University of Debrecen – Institute of Sport Sciences

Sports Science is one of the most dynamically developing disciplines today. Year by year, new methods, procedures, and tools are emerging that can contribute to higher sports performance in elite sports as well as to an increase in the number of years spent in health or a better quality of life. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the field, the developments of the co-disciplines (see informatics, life sciences, nutrition sciences, etc.) also appear in sports science, thus making it extremely exciting and innovative.

As one of the most outstanding universities in Hungary, the University of Debrecen, in addition to its many disciplines, a few years ago, recognizing the myriad opportunities in sports science, laid the foundations for a high-level educational, research, development, innovation and service unit.

On September 1, 2015, the Sports Science Coordination Institute was established, its main tasks are the coordination of sports and related disciplines at the university, the development of sports science courses as well as PE teacher, Sport Coach Training, Sport Analytical Expert, Recreational and Sport Manager, Sport Rehabilitation, Sport Dietary, Sport Psychological Diagnostic Expert (undergraduate, master’s, postgraduate courses, Ph.D. courses), the expansion of domestic and international relations, sports diagnostics and lifestyle and coordinating a therapy centre, and organizing university physical education, leisure, and competitive sports. As a kind of regional sports knowledge centre, its mission is to help and support the region in all areas related to sports, physical activity and physical education.

For this, there is an all-purpose sports and related infrastructural as well as human resource (teachers, researchers) background. As for the future of the Institute, not only the excellent national research university, but also the city of Debrecen, which is an excellent supporter of sports and physical activity, has an excellent partnership with the university.

Be part of this fruitful collaboration!
