More than 50 organisations attended EPSI General Assembly, that saw the participation of EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel as speaker.

COVID-19 and social distancing measures do not stop the European Platform for Sport Innovation. Our General Assembly was originally scheduled today in Belgrade had to be turned into a digital event, but this did not prevent our members and partners to meet in order to summarize developments, activities and future roadmaps of EPSI role as a more and more important player in the European Sport panorama.

Not by chance, the event started with an enthusiastic speech by EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth including Sport Ms. Mariya Gabriel, who very kindly took part to the first part of the Assembly, spending interesting words about the role of sport and innovation for the European Union and underlying the efforts of EPSI in promoting a sporty and healthy lifestyle.

Under the guidance of EPSI Executive Directors Alberto Bichi and Rene Wijlens, the morning was spent analyzing the developments of our network, who is increasing in numbers day by day, and our current EU co-funded projects, that are thirteen at the moment. During interactive sessions and open debate, EPSI staff was given the opportunity to spend few words about different topics: projects, administration, communication and IT. New members of EPSI staff, Administration Manager Giulia Rossi and Training Education Manager Franz Colletta, analysed relevant topics, such as EPSI Offices spaces at the House of Sport and the new Sport Academy Project, aimed at giving new opportunities to EPSI members.

During the afternoon, the floor was given to three high-level panelists chosen among EPSI strategic partners: Twan Bierens (W&B), Marc Pattinson (GAC Group) and Marcello Aglietti Zanon (ID Consulting), who analyesed future European supporting measures and the next Multiannual Financial Framework  (MFF), giving EPSI members a picture of future developments of the relationship between the European Union and the #InnovateSport spirit.
