The European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS) and the European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership.

Berlin, May 1, 2019 – The European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS) and the European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI) signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership between both platforms to reinforce their existing cooperation.

EPoSS is an industry-driven policy initiative, defining R&D and innovation needs as well as policy requirements related to Smart Systems developmentand integrated Micro- and Nanosystems. It brings together European private and public stakeholders in order to coordinate and to bundle efforts and to set-up sustainable structures for improving the competitiveness of European R&D on Smart Systems Technologies and their integration.

EPSI is a European membership-based networking organisation which focuses on innovation in the areas of physical activity related to sport, leisure and health and it strives for a more innovation-friendly environment for the EU sports industry in order to stimulate technological innovation and to set up businesses with a focus on innovative technology.

Both platforms see a huge added value in a closer cooperation, most specifically in the domains of Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Wearables.

“Joined efforts like brokerage events, establishment of common projects, sharing knowledge and information on respective Strategic Research Agendas will be intensified to strengthen Europe´s Smart Systems Community in the fields of sport, leisure and heath applications” stated the Chairman of EPoSS, Stefan Finkbeiner.
