EOSE – EUROPEAN OBSERVATOIRE OF SPORT AND EMPLOYMENT
EOSE (European Observatoire of Sport and Employment) was set up in 1994 as an informal group. Later on, in 2002, the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) officially registered in France as a not for profit association.
Its secretariat is since based in Lyon. Over the years, EOSE has established itself as a respected, expert organisation in the Sector at a European level. It is seen as independent and objective and a facilitator and leader in skills development in the Sector.
EOSE offers a range of services that are based on its experience in project management, recommendations development and on its 7 Step Model – a structured approach to developing your workforce.
These Services are relevant to a range of organisations – International and National Sports Federations, Sports Ministries and Sports Agencies charged with developing sport, training providers and vocational education providers, clubs and companies operating in the sport field.
Over the years, EOSE has indeeed established itself as a respected, expert organisation in the Sector at a European level. It is seen as independent and objective and a facilitator and leader in skills development in the Sector. The mission of EOSE is in fact highly relevant to a number of EU policy priorities and whilst EOSE is not a lobby organisation it can through its expertise be influential on behalf of the Sector and its Members at a European level.
Specialising in Workforce development and European policy, EOSE offers a range of services that are based on its experience in project management, recommendations development. Their offer can form a total approach to workforce development for your organisation or a project approach to meet specific and immediate priorities.
The scope of EOSE is understood to cover the whole Sport and Active Leisure sector including the Outdoor and Fitness. EOSE acts at the European and international level with the goal to serve as a source of knowledge and a strategic facilitator to support the development of Sport and Active Leisure including employment, sports systems, developing standards, competence, qualifications and Vocational Education and Training (VET).
In June 2012, following a unanimous decision taken by members during the General Assembly 2011 to suport EOSE’s growth and better answer the challenges faced by the sector, the EOSE Executive Board took the step to implement this resolution and supported the establishment of EOSE Services to work as a sister organisation to EOSE and to create a core team shared between the two legal entities.
It was decided that this organisation should be established in the UK as a company limited by guarantee (non for profit company) and linked to EOSE by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would give the EOSE Board an appropriate level of control over its activities. The purpose of the new organisation is to support EOSE to expand its income away from its dependence on EU funded projects, to diversify the range of activities and to enable a small core team to be maintained to provide sustainability, continuity and support to the association and its Members.
