The European Commission published the results of the Erasmus+ funding call for sport in the last days of August. Competition was higher than ever, but EPSI and its network of members succeeded in getting four new projects approved.

These are the projects granted for 2024. Although past years have been slightly more fruitful, EPSI is happy to celebrate this result together with the project leaders of its network, renewing the commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration within the European sports sector.

These projects have been selected from an incredibly competitive pool of applications from 3 different categories of Erasmus+ for Sport – cooperation partnership, small partnership and non-for-profit sports events, for a total of 1705 proposals submitted by different entities in Europe (including proposals transferred from or to other calls).

The 4 projects will receive funding from the European Commission to support their implementation starting from January 2025. They cover a wide range of initiatives, from promoting inclusivity in sports to developing sustainable training programs for health. The approved projects will contribute to:

  • WeBike: develop safety measures for E-Bikes and show elderly people that it is an attractive alternative to the car with great added value for health.
  • EmpowerHer: enhance the post-treatment phase of breast cancer among women by developing a tailored exercise program to mitigate chronic pain and promote active, healthy lifestyles.
  • EHLA: replicate the EHLA’s model “Eat well, stay well, move” in other cities/countries in Europe, launching a pan-European campaign on the promotion of a healthy lifestyle
  • BEST: promote Taekwondo and intercultural exchange between schools in different EU countries, to disseminate the value of this discipline among young people and create a standard program.

EPSI guided its network of members throughout the project development process from the end of 2023 to March 2024, the application deadline. From brainstorming ideas during the brokerage tables to finding suitable partners and navigating the complex funding application process, the EPSI members’ active participation was never lacking.

“We congratulate our members for their achievements – said Alberto Bichi, Executive Director at EPSI -. These projects demonstrate the engagement, innovation spirit, and dedication of our network for sports. They will have a lasting impact on the European sports landscape”.

EPSI is excited to work closely with our partners to ensure the successful implementation of these projects. By leveraging the power of Erasmus+ funding, EPSI is happy to shape all these different ideas of sports and create a more active, engaged, and equitable society.
