General information about EPSI workshops and conferences
EPSI organizes events throughout Europe for partners on items that are of interest to the sports sector. The first EPSI event was organized in March 2008: the first European Conference on Sports and Innovation. This event stated the closure of the InnoSport.eu project (www.innosport.eu) and the step-stone for the development of the EPSI network.
Since then various workshops have been organized. Each workshop is hosted by a national liaison of EPSI. For each workshop an item is selected based on the strategic research agenda that was formulated with the sports sector.
The first workshop was organized in the Netherlands in October 2008 by Sports and Technology on the subject of innovations for sport stimulation. It resulted in some good ideas and alliances between public organizations, companies and knowledge organizations. Partners have taken the initiative to make EU project proposals on basis of the workshop results.
At the end of January 2009 during the ISPO fair the next workshop was organized in Munich, Germany. The fair appeared to be an excellent location to see the new trends, developments and innovations in sports. A logical environment for the next EPSI event. The event was organized and hosted by SportKreativWerkstatt GmbH The subjects that were on the agenda include:
- collaboration and innovation in the area of sport stimulation
- trends, devevelopments and innovation chances in winter sports
- developments of EPSI
Early July 2009 the next workshop was organised and hosted by IBV in Valencia. This workshop dealt with:
- assessment of end user information in sports
the way this information can be transfered to innovative products and services for the sports sector.
Further workshops were held in Val Gardena (Italy) in December 2009 and in St Etienne (France) in may 2010. In November 2010 a workshop has been organized by IBV and the Spanish Patform of Sports Industry in Valencia (Spain). In 2011 several workshops were organised on the topic elderly and sports both in France, the Netherlands and Spain.
In April 2012 EPSI will organise the second European Conference on Sport Innovation. More information is available here.
